Chasing the Northern Lights: A Rare Night Sky Adventure in Kentucky's Red River Gorge

As a Kentucky-based outdoor and adventure photographer, I've spent countless days capturing the stunning outdoor beauty of the Red River Gorge. But nothing prepared me for the extraordinary experience of photographing the northern lights right here in Kentucky. Known more for its breathtaking cliffs and lush forests, the gorge is the last place I expected to witness such a rare celestial display.

Seeing My Cabin Photography on Billboards around Kentucky's Red River Gorge

Living in Kentucky and working as a photographer has been a dream come true for me. Nestled in the heart of the Red River Gorge, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to combine my passion for photography with the stunning landscapes and activities that this area has to offer. Recently, I was floored when I spotted my photography featured on billboards around the gorge, promoting local cabin rentals.

Making Instructional Videos Fun for the Access Fund and Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition

For a long time we’ve partnered with the Red River Gorge Climbers Coalition (RRGCC) to provide still photography and even some occasional video assets. When they were the recipient of a grant from the Access Fund to create new media with the goal of guiding climbers make the transition from the gym to the crag, they reached out to us. What resulted were a series of short, but fun, video segments used online and at in-person meetings.

Climbing Photography for "Chicks Climbing & Skiing" in the Red River Gorge

Stoke. Encouragement. Beta. Guacamole. These were just some of the things that were shared at the recent Chicks Climbing and Skiing clinic in the Red River Gorge this September. I had the opportunity to work with and capture photos of a bunch of these awesome ladies putting their skills to the test at MFRP.

Video Production for Paradox Sports: Adaptive Rock Climbing in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge

While we don’t exclusively create multimedia for non-profits, outdoor-centric, or locally-focused businesses, we certainly seek them out whenever possible! Paradox Sports fits this bill as a non-profit that (among other things) creates adaptive sport communities and regularly hosts rock climbing clinics where folks with a physical disability are given the tools needed to ascend a vertical rock wall. Paradox has been on our radar for a while, and we finally got the chance to spend a weekend working with the volunteers, staff, and participants of the annual Paradox Rocks event held in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge.
